New in Version 6 Beta 4 and Feature Areas Podcast

by Jennifer Huber Wednesday, May 13, 2009

TeamDynamix continues to roll out new capabilities in monthly releases to introduce the July release of Version 6.

This is an overview + podcast of five new updates in Version 6 Beta 4:

Tasks Interface
Resource Allocation Report
Multiple File Upload
Time and Expense Reporting
Project Plans

Tasks Interface
The TeamDynamix development team sought to improve and fine-tune the Tasks interface.  What has emerged is a Tasks function that’s fast, more user-friendly, more responsive and very efficient.  Your favorite features are still there, but the new Tasks interface makes use of new icons, a context menu, keyboard controls, delete/add keys and the ability to add a task in-line, right where you want it in the project plan.   All of these new control capabilities mean that you spend less time and effort making the plan and more time executing it.

Resource Allocation Report
The Resource Allocation Report has been further optimized for performance. In Version 6 Beta 4, you’ll notice improved response time for the data returned in the Resource Allocation Report in Portfolio Planning plus the ability to shift hours at a project level.

Multiple File Upload
Version 6 users with the free Microsoft® Silverlight™ plugin installed can access the multiple file upload feature released in Beta 4.  Upload multiple files as email attachments as well as directly into the briefcase.  This capability still allows you to notify users when a new file has been uploaded.

Time & Expense Reporting
The time review screen has been changed to show a hierarchical view of time, facilitating your view of how time and expenses break down by project, type, etc.  Also, tasks marked as 100% complete are filtered out of the tasks view by default but are still viewable if you change the filter criteria to include them.

Project Plans
New in Beta 4, check out a project plan to change it –adding or removing tasks, for example- eliminating any errors or redundancy caused by simultaneous editing.  When you’re done, check in the plan and your changes appear immediately or when you refresh the view.
